- A system that is in FlashCopy mode can be specified for the From system (FROMSYS) parameter on the WRKMEDIBRM command and BRMS restore commands (RSTxxxBRM). In releases IBM i 6.1 through 7.2, the following PTFs or superseding PTFs are required:
- Power HA Tools for IBM i has a Full System Flash Copy (FSFC) offering which automates the FlashCopy process.
- If using the Full System Flash Copy (FSFC) tool kit version 7.60 or below, the QUSRBRM/QA1ALR file may be increasing in size. This is because of a bug in the FSFC code. The fix for this can be found here.
- Setting a system in Flash Copy mode does not prevent the BRMS subsystems from starting if the system is IPL'd or all subsystems are started.
- If using FSFC toolkit, before loading the March 2020 BRMS PTFs reference the changes made to the BRMS flight recording.
Setting up BRMS for a full system recovery
When doing a full system recovery from a save on the backup system, before using BRMS, users need to run the following commands to make sure BRMS is in a useable state:
INZBRM OPTION(*FLASHCOPY) STATE(*ENDBKU)
INZBRM OPTION(*FLASHCOPY) STATE(*ENDPRC)
