BRMS does support Write Once Read Many (WORM) media. This is set up in the media class, WRKCLSBRM.

...

If a WORM cartridge is expired and attempted to be overwritten, message CPF41B1 - Data overwrite not allowed would be posted.

NOTE:

  1. Any media class can be set as WORM . This includes virtual media. Virtual media enrolled in a media class that has WORM set to *YES will have the same rules applied to it as physical worm media.
  2. If a volume is in a media class where WORM is enabled, and you change the media class to Write once media = *NO. Any volumes in that media class need to be removed from the BRMS inventory and added back into the BRMS inventory before they can be reused, assuming the media been used is not real WORM media. Real WORM media will always be protected.
